According to TheArgus.co.uk, Albion have signed Canada striker Promise David on a season-long loan, a move that could become permanent for £22 million.
The 25-year-old arrives from Royale Union St Gilloise, where he scored 41 goals at roughly one every other game. He delivered 24 goals in RUSG’s 2024-25 title triumph, their first for 90 years.
The Belgian club, in which Albion chairman Tony Bloom has an interest, recruited David from the Estonian league for about £500,000. The loan includes an obligation to buy if certain criteria are met.
His signing is likely to ease concerns over the lack of a No 9. Georginio Rutter led the line through pre-season, while Albion are optimistic about Charalampos Kostoulas and, once fit again, Stefanos Tzimas. Evan Ferguson is also out injured and has been linked with a loan to Genoa.
Sporting director Mike Cave said the club had tracked David for some time, calling him an out-and-out striker with outstanding physical attributes and a strong scoring record. He added that his international and European experience would hopefully be valuable this season, and that he is entering his prime. His goal against Switzerland at the world was his fourth for his country in 14 games.
