São Paulo state prosecutors Luiz Ambra Neto and André Pascoal said the judicial intervention inquiry into Corinthians is at an early stage and that Wednesday’s fan protest underlined the probe’s legitimacy without affecting its course. According to Globo.com, they pledged a strictly technical, non-political approach.

They said the investigation had been frozen pending review by the Public Prosecutor’s Superior Council. Although opened in December 2025, authorisation to proceed came only in May.

After club president Osmar Stabile was heard, the estimate is that the inquiry will run at least two more months. The prosecutors said they cannot disclose findings or make value judgements at this stage. They added that if the complex probe concludes sooner, any move could precede the year-end club elections, though there is no certainty there will be such an action.

Any request for intervention would be decided by a judge, who would appoint an interventor, oversee measures and set the duration. The prosecutors said intervention is not a sanction, it is intended to protect the club’s interests and regularise non-compliant points so it can resume self-governance.

Hundreds of supporters demonstrated outside the Public Prosecutor’s office calling for judicial intervention, then fan leaders met the prosecutors. The meeting, they said, aimed to clarify how intervention works and to avoid false expectations among followers. They added there are serious reasons that justify considering such an action, while outcomes remain open.
