FC Barcelona are blessed to have a lot of great talent within their first team and the subsidiary as well. Moreover, it is a common pattern at the club to see youngsters given opportunities with the first team when the time is right.

However, there are also instances where other clubs manage to snatch away some promising young talents before they are able to consolidate themselves within the Barça first team. One such case could involve Juan Hernandez, a highly regarded midfielder from Barça Atlètic who has now caught the attention of Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Mundo Deportivo, PSG and their coach, Luis Enrique, view the 18-year-old as an ideal fit for their long-term project. The French champions are reportedly determined to continue blending top-level stars with young European prospects, and Hernández is seen as a player who perfectly fits this strategy.

The midfielder, born in Teruel and part of Barcelona’s academy since 2020 after joining from Zaragoza youth, has enjoyed a strong spell under Juliano Belletti with the reserve team. Known for his versatility, he can operate both centrally and in wider midfield positions, a quality that has earned him admiration from international scouts.

This season, Hernandez has started every match for Barça Atlètic except one, which he missed due to his call-up to Spain’s under-19 national team. He has been a regular presence for his country since progressing through the youth ranks from the under-15 level.

His current contract with Barcelona runs until June 2026, and renewal talks between the club and his representatives are already underway. Despite this, PSG continue to monitor his situation closely. The player’s €6 million release clause and the approaching end of his deal make him an appealing and potentially affordable target for the Ligue 1 side.

For Barcelona, keeping hold of Hernandez should be a clear priority. Losing such a promising talent, especially on a free transfer, would not only weaken the club’s future prospects but also deny them any return on a player who represents the next generation of La Masia excellence.
