Paris Saint-Germain returns to Ligue 1 action after defeating Liverpool FC in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League last Tuesday.
On Sunday, PSG hosts rivals Olympique Lyonnais in one of the more anticipated Ligue 1 matches of the season. Currently, PSG has a one-point lead over second-place RC Lens, but they have the match against Lyon and another match in hand to extend their lead.
Lyon sits in seventh place, but will look to move into a tie for third with a win. The stakes are high for both clubs, and the atmosphere should be electric.
Prior to the match, PSG’s squad was revealed, and there was one notable absence: Ibrahim Mbaye. The 18-year-old has impressed when given an opportunity to play this season and has attracted the attention of Aston Villa and other Premier League clubs, according to L’Equipe. Other absences due to injury include Nuno Mendes and Quentin Ndjantoue.
Luis Enrique’s starting lineup includes several interesting selections, including Lucas Beraldo in the midfield and Gonçalo Ramos starting at striker. Here is the full lineup:
Lucas Hernández will fill in for Mendes at left-back, Achraf Hakimi will be at right-back, Willian Pacho will step in at center-back, and Ilya Zabarnyi will step in for Marquinhos at center-back. Beraldo has impressed in the midfield and will look to build on that momentum, and he will be joined by Senny Mayulu and Vitinha in the midfield. In the attack, Ramos will lead the front line with Désiré Doué and Bradley Barcola on the wings. Matvey Safonov will be in goal.
