A football pundit has been explaining why he believes that a Chelsea player “faded” out of the Pafos win last night.

Chelsea won the game 1-0 on the night but it wasn’t easy at all. They had to break down a low block that was well organised, and struggled to do so for big parts of the game.

EXCL: Latest on Chelsea signing Jeremy Jacquet with deal still ON!!

Moises Caicedo, who was the hero from last night, has come out and said that Rosenior is doing really well at Chelsea.

It needed a very late Moises Caicedo header for Chelsea to finally get the goal in order to beat Pafos in the Champions League last night, after they huffed and puffed all game long but to no joy.

Fans were complaining about the same thing they have seen time and time again under Enzo Maresca with inverted full backs, lack of overlapping full backs, and an isolated striker.

Another player who did help Chelsea be a bit more of an attacking threat was Estevao Willian. He was very good when he came on, but admittedly, I agree with the pundit below, he did fade a little bit as the game went on.

So why was that?

Joleon Lescott who was a pundit for the game, said on Estevao in words picked up on X:

“I thought he started off very brightly, faded a little bit into the game. I think they recognised how much of a threat he was and doubled up, tripled up on him, giving him the respect he deserves.”

I think that’s fair

It’s a fair conclusion this and also a compliment to the player. They did start doubling up on him and that means he was causing problems, which he was.
