According to a report from L’Équipe, Lyon are set to bolster their attacking options with the return of Rachid Ghezzal (33) on a free transfer. Les Gones failed to sign a recognised striker on transfer deadline day, and it was expected they would look to bring in further reinforcements after the window had closed.
The Algerian international attacker is an academy graduate at OL. The 33-year-old departed the Rhône club to join Monaco on a free transfer in 2017. Before departing the Groupama Stadium, the former Leicester City attacker made 119 appearances for OL, scoring 19 goals. 8 years on, Ghezzal is set to return to his formative club.
OL have agreed an initial one-year contract with the Algerian right-winger. The Ligue 1 club will also have the option to extend his contract by a further year should they wish to do so. Ghezzal is a free agent after leaving Turkish Super League club Rizespor following the expiry of his contract.
