Racing Santander closing in on loan of Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jeanuël Belocian | OneFootball

Racing Santander are closing in on a deadline-day move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeanuël Belocian (21), according to information from Foot Mercato.

The young centre-back is expected to join the newly promoted La Liga side on a season-long loan. Although he was initially linked with RC Lens, Belocian is now set to settle on the other side of the Pyrenees.

A product of the Stade Rennais academy, the native of Les Abymes in Guadeloupe left France in the summer of 2024, joining Bayer in a €15m transfer. Having made just 20 appearances for Leverkusen over the past two years – largely due to a serious cruciate ligament injury – Belocian spent last season on a six-month loan at VfL Wolfsburg to regain some playing time (16 starts in 16 appearances).

Under contract with Bayer until 2024, the seven-time France Under-21 international is now set to fly to Spain to continue his comeback away from the banks of the Rhine.
