Racing Santander fan dies after altercation in city, man in Albacete shirt arrested | OneFootball

A Racing Santander supporter died in the city on Saturday after an altercation, and a man in an Albacete shirt was arrested at the scene, according to Europa Press.

Racing and Albacete were playing at El Sardinero at 16.15 that afternoon.

Police received a 091 alert at about 16.00 reporting an assault on Simón Cabarga Street. Officers found two men assisting a middle-aged man who was lying on the ground with a bleeding head wound. Medics treated him at the scene before taking him to the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital, where he later died.

The National Police detained the suspected attacker and opened an investigation. Initial findings suggest the incident followed an argument between the two men, both residents of Santander.

The case has been reported to the Oficina Nacional de Deportes. The detainee is expected to be brought before a judge on Monday, 23 March, while police complete their paperwork.
