Rafael Leao will leave AC Milan for Galatasaray, the Portugal forward saying his goodbyes after seven years at the club.
According to Le Progres, he confirmed the move on Friday night after Milan beat Venezia 2-0 in the opening round of Serie A’s second matchday.
He described it as a difficult moment and said farewell to his team-mates, adding he believes his achievements secure his place in the club’s history. A Sporting Lisbon academy graduate who spent 2018-19 at Lille, he said his affection for Milan would endure and that he would follow the club from afar.
Reports indicate Galatasaray could pay up to 45 million euros, with the 27-year-old set to sign until 2030 with the club from Türkiye.
Leao scored 80 goals in 291 appearances for Milan in all competitions, winning Serie A in 2022 and the Italian Super Cup in 2024. His last two seasons drew mixed reviews from supporters and senior figures, with questions over work-rate and a dip in output, including nine Serie A goals in 2025-26.
Milan are provisional Serie A leaders on six points and have signed fellow Portuguese forward Gonçalo Ramos as his replacement for a record 74 million euros. The former Paris SG striker scored his first goal for the club on Friday night.
