Rahimo FC: resignation of Jamil Benouahi

In a statement released on October 28, 2025, Rahimo FC, the reigning champions of Burkina Faso, officially announced the end of their collaboration with Jamil Benouahi. The statement clarified that the Moroccan coach, who had served as head coach for just three months, had submitted his resignation.

Reasons

The club's statement was extremely brief. "Rahimo FC announces the termination of its collaboration with head coach Jamil Benouahi." This decision followed a resignation submitted by Jamil Benouahi on October 24 "for personal reasons", after taking charge in July. The separation between the two parties will take effect as of October 31, 2025.

The end of the partnership comes immediately after Rahimo FC's elimination from the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League at the hands of Espérance Sportive de Tunis. The academics from Bama endured a fruitless African campaign offensively, failing to score a single goal in four matches. In the first round, Jamil Benouahi and his men advanced via a penalty shootout in Gabon after two goalless draws against Manga Sport. In the second round, they lost the first leg at home in Ouagadougou (0-1) to Espérance before suffering a heavy defeat in Tunisia (0-3). Reaching the final stages of the CAF Champions League was one of the main objectives entrusted to Jamil Benouahi and his technical staff.

Strong domestic results

Jamil Benouahi officially led Rahimo in seven matches as head coach. Despite the African exit, his tenure saw a dominant start to the domestic season. In his first official match, the Moroccan clinched the Burkina Faso Super Cup, as his side edged out Union of Armed Forces 1-0. Rahimo FC also secured victories in their opening two matches of the 2025-26 Faso Foot Ligue 1 campaign, defeating Racing Club de Kadiogo (1-0) and Vitesse FC (2-0).

As the team prepares to defend its national league title, Rahimo FC must now find a replacement for Jamil Benouahi to continue their journey and pursue further success.
