If a recent report from Serbian outlet Mozzart Sport is believed to be true, Rangers have now struck a deal with Partizan Belgrade for their skipper Vanja Dragojevic. Their initial bid of around £3.8m was turned down, but an improved £4.6m offer has now been accepted, with the Black-Whites also holding a 10 per cent sell-on clause on any future sale.
The 20-year-old Serbian international progressed through Altina Zemun and Partizan’s academy setups before the latter sent him on loan to the lower-league outfit Teleoptik for first-team football. After a sporadic stint upon returning to his parent club, the 2025-26 season proved to be the turning point of his career. Israeli veteran Bibars Natcho was elected as the skipper following goalkeeper Aleksandar Jovanovic’s departure. But the Serb, their vice-captain and a starter, led them more often than the now-retired midfielder.
Dragojevic has so far scored four goals and assisted five times in 52 senior appearances, primarily as a deep-lying playmaker. However, his absence from Partizan’s pre-season camp in Slovenia has further fuelled the speculations. It is a matter of when, not if, as hinted by their sporting director, Radosav Petrovic, in a recent interview.
“There are certain indications, and I believe that in the coming days we will have more concrete information. It is an offer for Vanja Dragojevic.”
Rangers have already signed six new names, including Dan Neil and Cammy Devlin. The midfield pair have been roped in on Bosman transfers after they chose to run down their respective contracts with Sunderland and Hearts. But they aim for a squad revamp under Derek McInnes, as a few departures are also on the cards in the middle of the park.

The Light Blues, on paper, are well-equipped in midfield, with Nicolas Raskin, Connor Barron, Mohamed Diomande and Tochi Chukwuani challenging each other for the starting spots. While Bailey Rice has already been loaned out to Kilmarnock for regular gametime, outcast duo Jose Cifuentes and Lyall Cameron are likely to be offloaded this summer. Raskin and Barron are drawing serious interest from European hotshots, thus forcing the Glasgow giants to cash in on their prized assets in due time.
