Reality

The real story is a bit different. Rangers Review’s Derek Clark engaged in a podcast with Chris Jack on a bunch of different topics, and simply answered a reader’s question.

That point was the reader in question, Rangersman55, asking the pundits their thoughts on the players out of contract, and the chap said he’d let Tavernier (and Souttar) go.

Clark responded saying he would offer the captain a new deal, either one or two years, probably on reduced terms, adding ‘you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone’.

That’s it. That’s the story.

Pundit

A Rangers Review pundit saying he would offer Tav a new deal based on a question a viewer asked.

From that the rumour has started on social media that the club is offering Tav a new deal, and there’s absolutely no evidence of that.

Would we at Ibrox Noise offer him a new deal anyway?

No, we’ve had quite enough of James Tavernier and his rotten positioning and defending. Yes, we’ll lose his goals and assists, 9 of them this season in 24 matches. But those are hardly contributing towards an outstanding campaign for the club. None of his goals are game-changers, they never really were. His numbers are better than what they actually deliver on the pitch.

Departure

So we’d happily wish him well next summer and let him have his testimonial and kindly depart after that.

The only condition we’d consider keeping him is as squad, and not as captain. Plus on significantly lower wages than his current £37,000pw.

We want a better RB than Tavernier – he symbolises how rotten Rangers have been for a decade.

But no, James Tavernier Rangers extension hasn’t been offered, and any notion he has is conjecture.
