Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is once again at the centre of transfer speculation. According to Football Insider, Palace are expected to entertain offers for the 22-year-old in January after both Rangers and Southampton failed with bids during the summer window.
Senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Palace were open to letting the academy graduate leave, though terms could not be agreed. Rangers had explored a move late on deadline day but were left disappointed.
Speaking on the situation, former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider: “There was a lot of interest in Rak-Sakyi on deadline day. If he’s not figuring in Oliver Glasner’s plans between now and January, I’m sure Rangers will maybe be looking at that situation with Rak-Sakyi.
“It doesn’t look at the moment like he is going to be part of those plans, they were willing to let him go in the summer but couldn’t reach an agreement. Rangers are likely to be in the market for more attacking reinforcements.”

Rak-Sakyi’s name has long been linked with Russell Martin. The Rangers manager previously tried to sign him during his time at both Swansea and Southampton, underlining his admiration. “Russell Martin is a huge fan and tried to sign him during his time at Southampton, so that interest isn’t going to go away,” added Brown.
Football Insider further reported that Martin had been pushing hard to secure the winger’s signature in July as he looked to inject pace and creativity out wide. Palace, however, were more open to permanent offers rather than a loan deal, and that stance ultimately halted negotiations.
The winger’s situation remains uncertain under Glasner, and with minutes limited, the prospect of a mid-season switch remains firmly on the cards.
For Rangers, the need for reinforcements is obvious. A sluggish start to the campaign has heaped pressure on Martin, with questions over his future surfacing even before September was out. As Football Insider noted, Rangers are “likely to be in the market for more attacking reinforcements” regardless of the managerial situation.
Rak-Sakyi’s arrival would not only add depth but also provide a direct attacking outlet who can operate across the forward line.
Complicating the picture is Martin’s own future. Football Insider revealed that Rangers are preparing to sack the manager following pressure from club legends and growing unrest among the Ibrox faithful. Kevin Thelwell’s public backing has not fully eased concerns, with results yet to meet expectations.

Should Martin depart, the question remains whether Rak-Sakyi would still be a priority target for his replacement. However, his age, profile and price point suggest he could appeal to any incoming manager tasked with refreshing Rangers’ squad.
For Rangers supporters, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi represents exactly the type of signing the club needs. At 22, he combines youth with Premier League experience, and his direct running style could bring a much-needed spark to a side that has often looked predictable.
Many fans will remember how close the deal appeared during the summer and will see January as a chance to finally get it over the line. The quotes from Football Insider make it clear that Palace are willing to do business and that Martin has been relentless in his pursuit of the winger. Even if Martin’s tenure ends before then, the club’s interest in Rak-Sakyi should not fade.
The concern for supporters is whether Rangers act decisively. Competing clubs such as Southampton may return, and hesitation could see the opportunity slip away again. At a time when attacking depth is essential, especially with the demands of European football, failing to add a player of Rak-Sakyi’s calibre would feel like another missed step in recruitment.
Fans want ambition and energy, and signing Rak-Sakyi would tick both boxes.
