According to De Telegraaf, Scottish Premiership side Rangers are closing in on the signing of Robin Pröpper with the Dutch defender set to undergo medical tests ahead of a permanent move. A full agreement has been reached between FC Twente and Rangers as the 30-year-old centre-back prepares to leave Twente after three successful seasons.
Robin Pröpper has featured 115 times for Twente, captaining the side to a third place finish in the Eredivisie last season behind PSV and Feyenoord. The former Heracles and De Graafschap defender is seen as a replacement to Connor Goldson at Rangers after the Englishman left Ibrox for Cypriot side Aris Limassol this week.
Reports claim Twente will receive ‘several million’ for the transfer of Robin Pröpper. The player extended his contract with the club last season until 2027 but the board were happy to let their main man leave this summer for an exciting opportunity in Scotland.
These two clubs have already done business with each other this summer as striker Sam Lammers left Rangers for Twente on a permanent deal. Philippe Clement’s side received around €2m for that transfer and are now sending the money back to Twente to strengthen in defence. This could prove to be a brilliant bit of business from Rangers.
