Raphael Veiga is close to leaving Palmeiras after eight full seasons and 11 trophies, with América-MEX in talks over a loan move.
According to UOL, the clubs have moved towards an agreement for the No 23 to sign a loan until the end of 2026, with an option to buy at that point.
On Thursday 29, Palmeiras wanted the negotiation clarified by Friday 30, either for a departure or for him to stay.
In recent days, Veiga indicated he would accept América-MEX’s offer if an agreement were reached between the clubs. He has not pushed for an exit and would remain without complaint should no deal be struck.
Head coach Abel Ferreira has made clear, internally and publicly, that he does not wish to lose one of his leaders. He is awaiting reinforcements and believes a significant signing in midfield would be required if Veiga were to leave.
Palmeiras face Botafogo-SP in the Paulistão on one February at 20h30 Brasília time, then play Vitória in the Brasileirão on four February at 21h30.
