FC Barcelona have managed to win seven out of their first seven games in La Liga this season. The Catalan giants have been flawless so far this season, and their quality continues to amaze fans and rivals alike. Their most recent victory arrives in the form of a heroic win over Sevilla away from home.
A solid 1-3 victory, it saw Barcelona captain Raphinha score three goals for the second consecutive game. Following his hattrick against Racing Santander, the Brazilian star was once again essential to the Catalan club as they took away all three points from this game.
Here are the player ratings for Hansi Flick’s team.
Starting XI
Dominik Livakovic: 6.0/10
Underwhelming debut, seemed a bit eager to clear the ball out rather than keep it in play and maintain possession. However, he could not have done much about the goal that he conceded.
Eric Garcia: 5.5/10
Not a particularly great outing from the Spaniard, and he should have done better to stop Sevilla’s attack that led to the goal. Gradually improved, but he was still struggling in his duels.
Pau Cubarsi: 7.0/10
Did exceptionally well defensively for much of the game, and his distribution was almost flawless as well. Moreover, he did well to make life difficult for Sevilla when it came to competing for his duels as well.
Andreas Christensen: 7.0/10
Provided the assist for Raphinha’s first goal, and did well enough to tend to his defensive duties. Unfortunately, he had to be taken off during the second half due to some physical discomfort.
Joao Cancelo: 6.5/10
Looked promising going forward and made things happen, but he looked very vulnerable defensively. Sevilla were constantly attacking from his flank and they found a lot of success in getting past the Portuguese full-back.
Rodri: 8.5/10
Immense in midfield and made some crucial interventions defensively as well. One of his tackles in particular was essentially a goal-saving intervention and his distribution throughout the game was crucial for Barcelona as well.
Pedri: 8.0/10
Had some questionable moments sprinkled throughout the match, but he was flying once he got a grip on himself during the second half. For the third goal, in particular, Pedri was crucial in unlocking the opposition structure and his chance creation was sharper as well.
Lamine Yamal: 9.0/10
Delivered two wonderful assists, and came close to scoring himself as well. Across the entirety of the game, the young Spanish winger was constantly thwarting the opposition goal and even created several chances for his teammates.
Fermin Lopez: 6.5/10
Unable to deliver much during this game, Fermin Lopez was contained well by the opposition. However, he needed to be a bit sharper in possession and link up better with his teammates as well.
Anthony Gordon: 6.5/10
Barely managed to do much damage to the opposition, and he was quite limited on the night. Managed to evolve into the game a bit more as it went on, but still remained underwhelming.
Raphinha: 10/10
Back to back hattricks for Barça’s man of the moment, Raphinha is simply operating on a different level to everyone. Scored a perfect hattrick with his right foot, left foot, and a headed goal as well. Beyond that, his work-rate is phenomenal as well.
Substitutes:
Gerard Martin: 7.0/10
Did well to replace Christensen following his injury and Gerard Martin was sharp with his passing and did well to win his duels as well.
Karim Adeyemi: 7.0/10
Much sharper than Gordon during the game and his substitution opened up a new avenue for Barcelona to attack through as well. As it stands, he deserves to be ahead of his English competitor in the hierarchy of forwards at the club.
Dani Olmo: 6.0/10
Did well to help Barcelona maintain control near the end of the game.
Not enough time or influence on the game to warrant a rating.
Marc Bernal: N/A
