Lazio have reportedly convinced Franjo Ivanovic to join them this summer, but will have to find an agreement with Benfica.
The Italian capital side is searching the market for a striker, and Petar Ratkov could be the one to make way for a new arrival. The 22-year-old Serbian has now emerged as a serious target for Dynamo Moscow, whose offer has exceeded €15 million according to multiple reliable sources in Italian football.
While Lazio are open to cashing in on Ratkov, they must first secure a replacement. In recent hours, Ivanovic and Andrea Pinamonti emerged as the two most plausible targets. But according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the Croatian international could be closer to the Aquile than the Sassuolo striker.
The transfer market expert reveals that Lazio have re-entered the race for Ivanovic, trying to take advantage of Real Betis’ delay. The Andalusians have asked for a few more days, as they must make a sale before submitting an offer for the 22-year-old Croatian, who has already said ‘yes’ to Lazio.
The Biancocelesti are now awaiting Benfica’s response, which should arrive during the weekend. Previous reports claimed that the Italians have proposed a loan with an option to buy to avoid burdening their current budget with additional commitments. Hence, it remains to be seen if the Portuguese giants would be open to this formula.
Ivanovic is an Augsburg youth product who has experience at Rijeka (Croatia) and Union Saint-Gilloise (Belgium), before earning a move to Benfica last summer. However, the young bomber struggled for playing time last season under Jose Mourinho, with Vangelis Pavlidis cementing himself as the undisputed first choice in attack.
The Eagles have also added Jhon Duran to their ranks this summer, which could push Ivanovic further down in the pecking order. The Croatian international scored eight goals in his 43 appearances for his current employers.
