Raul Jimenez has marked his emotional Molineux return by funding a scarf giveaway for Wolves supporters in the South Bank before tonight’s Championship opener against Blackburn Rovers.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the Mexican forward and his partner, Daniela Basso, laid the Jimenez-themed scarves on seats, each carrying “Si Senor”, a nod to the striker’s terrace anthem.
Jimenez thanked fans for the sustained affection since his arrival and after his departure, and said he is excited for the season. He added that they will do their best and described the scarves as a small gift.
The club’s all-time top Premier League scorer returned this summer and will now look to help them back to the top flight. He received a hero’s welcome at Molineux during last week’s Carabao Cup tie with Port Vale.
He left Wolves in 2023 after scoring 57 goals in all competitions, joining Fulham. Despite that spell away, he and the fanbase maintained a strong bond, including emotional Molineux visits with Fulham.
During his first spell, Jimenez suffered a life-threatening fractured skull and brain bleed in a clash of heads with Arsenal’s David Luiz in November 2020. Emergency surgery saved him, and he returned to action eight months later.
Basso said the family felt supporters’ messages and backing throughout that period, and that they are grateful to be back. She added that the fans were an important part of why they returned.
