Raul Jimenez hobbled out of the first half of Wolves’ Carabao Cup tie at Everton, prompting injury fears days before the Black Country derby.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, he was a surprise inclusion in a much-changed line-up at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
He lasted a little over 35 minutes, having felt pain in his left knee after a defensive challenge on the edge of Wolves’ D.
The Mexican was treated at length by Wolves physios, then headed down the tunnel slowly after being consoled by team-mates and Everton players. Adam Armstrong replaced him.
Peixoto’s men reached half-time goalless at Everton.
Head coach Peixoto made nine changes for the midweek tie, which fell three-and-a-half days before Sunday’s meeting with the Baggies. Jimenez was the late hero in the 1-0 win at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane after coming off the bench.
He missed both Black Country derbies played behind closed doors in 2021 after a serious head injury against Arsenal in November 2020.
