In Sunday’s edition of L’Équipe, a piece on Michael Olise’s rise to prominence within the France national team evoked the Bayern Munich forward’s relationship with Rayan Cherki.
Whilst there is a relationship on the pitch, the publication stated that off the pitch, Cherki was someone that Olise struggled to “understand”. L’Équipe added that the former Crystal Palace forward wasn’t appreciative of Cherki’s pranks in training, for example. In contrast to Olise, known to be very nonchalant but also quite introverted and generally shy, Cherki is perhaps the polar opposite.
However, Cherki has taken to X to dismiss the idea that there is any issue between him and his international teammate. “Another invention… magnificent inspiration,” said the Manchester City forward on the social media platform in a quote post of L’Équipe’s information.
Olise has been the standout player of Zinédine Zidane’s first international break as manager of the France national team. The Bayern Munich forward netted the winner against Belgium and then scored a free-kick in the 1-1 draw against Italy last week.
