Rayan held talks with his representatives and Vasco executives on Thursday as Bournemouth’s interest became a key pre-match topic before the 2026 season opener. According to Globo.com, the 19-year-old met the hierarchy at the team hotel in Rio’s West Zone.
The meeting came hours after the No 77 indicated a positive stance towards a proposal from the English club. He remains in the squad for the match against Maricá.
In the discussion, Rayan reiterated his wish to play in Europe. His camp see the Premier League as a positive step, but there is no agreement between Bournemouth and Vasco, and the talks were calm and ended without a decision.
Rayan and his agents are not planning to force an exit, reflecting the player’s respect for the club that developed him. Vasco want to keep him at least until mid-year, believing six more months in Brazil could increase his value. Coach Fernando Diniz has told the board he is counting on him at the start of the season.
Bournemouth have not submitted a formal bid, only an informal enquiry flagging a potential €35 million offer, R$ 218 million. Despite financial priorities, executives think a mid-year sale could yield more in Europe’s main transfer window.
Rayan’s camp take a different view, considering Bournemouth the right move. They cite recent exits, with Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo joining Manchester City days ago for more than R$ 470 million, and defender Huijsen moving to Real Madrid in May 2025 for R$ 374 million.
Vasco have also fielded interest from Borussia Dortmund. The only official offer came from Zenit, which the player rejected as he wants to play in a major European centre.
