RB Leipzig ‘in advanced talks’ for Real Betis’ Sergi Altimira as Eintracht enquire | OneFootball

Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reports that RB sporting director Marcel Schäfer is in advanced talks with Sergi Altimira’s camp, while Eintracht Frankfurt have lodged a tentative loan enquiry. Leipzig are viewed as ahead in the race.

The 24-year-old Catalan international at Real Betis is valued at around €20m, so any deal would be expensive. Eintracht are handling administrative upheaval after sacking Dino Toppmöller at the weekend.

The report adds Leipzig want extra cover in defensive midfield to ease the load on 24-year-old Nicolas Seiwald. They have also been linked with Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Rocco Reitz and other options.

Meanwhile, Marca states Betis were reluctant to let Altimira depart. Sofyan Amrabat’s ankle injury on return from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations further reduces the chances of an exit.

Altimira has alternated between Manuel Pellegrini’s starting XI and the bench this season, and may now push for a regular starting role.
