RB Leipzig opened the 2026/27 competitive season with a 6-0 win at Eintracht Trier, booking them a place in the next round.
Brajan Gruda needed just 121 seconds to open the scoring for RBL, netting our fastest goal ever in the competition. He surpassed Amadou Haidara in the process, with the former Red Bull having netted after 137 seconds against Nürnberg back in 2020. Shortly after, Willi Orbán added a second (6') after getting on the end of a pass from Gruda. Ridle Baku then took aim from range, with his shot being deflected in by Trier's Gianluca Pelzer shortly before the break (45+2').
RBL remained dominant after the change of ends, with Conrad Harder adding a fourth in the 76th minute, getting on the end of a well-timed ball through by Rocco Reitz. Antonio Nusa added his name to the scoresheet in the second minute of injury time, before Ezechiel Banzuzi rounded off the evening with our sixth and final goal (90+5').
The Red Bulls were therefore victorious in Martín Demichelis' first competitive game as head coach.
