RC Lens defender Samson Baidoo out for three months with thigh injury | OneFootball

Samson Baidoo has suffered another thigh injury, a major setback for RC Lens.

L'Équipe reports that head coach Dino Toppmöller confirmed in Como on Tuesday that scans showed a lesion in the Austrian's left thigh after he was withdrawn on 38 minutes of Saturday's 2-2 friendly with Charleroi. A previous hamstring problem had already disrupted the 22-year-old's year, and the German coach said the lay-off could be three months.

Already without Malang Sarr, who has left for Neom in Saudi Arabia as a free agent, Racing now need to accelerate their search for central reinforcements.

After signing Polish defender Maik Nawrocki from Celtic for €2.5m and recalling Souleymane Sagnan from a loan at Caen, the club had paused recruitment following an unsuccessful move for Armando Obispo of PSV Eindhoven.

Baidoo's setback alters the picture. On Tuesday against Crystal Palace (3-0), Matthieu Udol filled in as part of a back three, though it is hard to imagine him leaving his wing-back role for long. Ismaëlo Ganiou, outstanding in the Italian heat, could now be kept given the situation despite rising interest from Europe's leading clubs.
