Real Madrid have published a hard-hitting video via their official channel, later shared on the club’s social media, directly targeting journalist Juanma Castaño. The montage accuses him of lying, manipulating, singling out and harassing, a move the club rarely makes.

The dispute intensified after Castaño’s weekly column on Monday, in which he likened Real Madrid TV to the newspaper Gara. The club said in a statement that such a comparison was absolutely deplorable and inadmissible, adding that linking their official media with a paper associated with ETA crossed every line.

Castaño apologised on his nightly programme for that specific comparison, saying it should not have been made. He nonetheless stood by his broader view that the channel engages in the same behaviour he criticised.

The new video turns those four accusations back on him, then compiles archive clips it labels as false information, favourable treatment towards Barça and criticism of Vinícius. It also includes segments in which he is shown describing Catalan Real Madrid supporters as deviants and laughing at women’s football.

Further, the piece features previous public criticisms of Castaño from Toni Kroos, Isco and Ana Peleteiro. It ends by displaying a photograph of him at a barbecue alongside Atlético de Madrid chief executive Miguel Ángel Gil Marín.
