Real Madrid had a blockbuster summer transfer window, bringing in several marquee signings such as Bernardo Silva, Marc Cucurella, Yan Diomande, Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konate and Carlos Espi.

According to Diario AS, Los Blancos are especially pleased with Cucurella, and the club believe they have signed the real deal in the Spaniard.

The former Chelsea man has made an immediate impression around Madrid, both because of his footballing qualities and his personality in the dressing room.

Madrid convinced by Cucurella

Cucurella arrived at the Bernabeu as a World Cup winner and was given a standing ovation by Madrid supporters.

He was given the glorious opportunity to present the trophy at the stadium ahead of the Real Sociedad game, alongside Mikel Oyarzabal.

Behind all this recognition is a career Cucurella has built through sheer perseverance and determination.

Even after establishing himself at the highest level, Cucurella sought additional individual work away from his club environment, focusing on technical and tactical development.

His move to the Premier League then helped him develop the physical side of his game further. Having come through La Masia, the 28-year-old went on to carve a path for himself elsewhere.

More than just another defensive addition

His arrival also reflects a change in Madrid’s recruitment strategy this summer.

Under Jose Mourinho, the club are not just focused on bringing in talented players, but also on those who can add personality to the dressing room.

Experienced players were recruited to increase the squad’s personality, while the club also invested heavily in young talent such as Yan Diomande and Carlos Espi.

Cucurella fits a slightly different category. Madrid were able to add an established, experienced left-back who should be capable of contributing immediately.

Competition gives Mourinho options

Cucurella’s arrival gives Mourinho two genuine starting options on the left, with Alvaro Carreras also available.

Between them, the two Spaniards should be able to contribute a lot to Jose Mourinho’s team over the course of a long season.

The World Cup showed the world just how good Cucurella is, and he played every single minute for La Roja in their record-breaking campaign.

Madrid now get to enjoy the 28-year-old during his prime years, and they will hope that he can be their left-back for many years to come.
