According to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr. could find himself in serious trouble after his reaction to being substituted during El Clasico.

The report claims that the club may fine the Brazilian up to €50,000 for what could be deemed a “malicious statement” directed at head coach Xabi Alonso.

Vinicius was withdrawn in the 72st minute of the match against Barcelona – a decision that did not sit well with him.

The cameras caught the winger’s visible frustration as he walked off the pitch, mouthing words that appeared to be aimed at his coach.

According to lip-readers, Vinicius muttered “vai tomar no cu” (a Portuguese insult roughly translating to “go to hell” or “screw you.”), followed by further complaints on the bench, where he was overheard saying

“It’s always me, I’m leaving the team. I’d better go.”

There could be a fine

These gestures and remarks quickly sparked widespread debate, both among fans and within the Spanish media.

Many questioned whether his behaviour crossed the line of acceptable criticism and entered the realm of disciplinary misconduct.

Under the 2015 collective agreement that governs professional football in Spain, players can be sanctioned for;

“insulting or malicious statements that exceed the right to freedom of expression or legitimate criticism, directed towards the club, its directors, coaches, or teammates.”

If Real Madrid decide that Vinicius’ outburst qualifies as such, it could lead to significant disciplinary action.

The forward could face not only a fine, potentially reaching €53,000, based on his gross monthly salary of €1.25 million, but also a suspension from work and pay for two to ten days.

While Vinicius has often been known for his passionate nature on the pitch, this incident could place him in a difficult position with both the club’s hierarchy and the coaching staff.
