Eduardo Camavinga was one of the Real Madrid players who was linked heavily with a departure in the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old star had endured another disappointing campaign in 2025/26, which led to him missing the World Cup with France.

Speculations about his future at the Santiago Bernabeu were rife, especially with Los Blancos being keen on adding another midfielder in the summer.

Now, it has emerged that the former Rennes wonderkid turned down an offer to move to Turkey.

Camavinga rejected Galatasaray

Indeed, according to journalist Matteo Moretto on Radio MARCA, Camavinga turned down a significant approach from Galatasaray during the summer, despite Real Madrid being prepared to listen to offers for the midfielder.

As per the reliable transfer expert, the Turkish giants were prepared to shell out as much as €50 million for the Frenchman during the transfer window.

However, the proposal ultimately went no further because Camavinga himself rejected the possibility of leaving Real Madrid.

Mourinho played a key role

Indeed, Los Blancos were willing to consider offers for the 23-year-old, but his situation changed as he earned the trust of head coach Jose Mourinho.

That backing from the Portuguese tactician is understood to have played an important role in Camavinga’s decision to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu and fight for his place in the team.

The French international has, so far, started only one game for Real Madrid this season, with Federico Valverde and new signing Bernardo Silva being preferred ahead of him as the double pivot.

The return of Aurelien Tchouameni this week from an injury is likely to push Camavinga further down the pecking order under Mourinho. Thiago Pitarch, who is rated highly within the club, is also expected to compete for minutes.

However, despite the situation, the 23-year-old star remains determined to fight and gain prominence in the manager’s plans.

Whether his stance changes in January, depending on how much he plays during the first half of the season, remains to be seen.
