Real Madrid have several decisions to make before the next summer transfer window, and the contractual situation of the veteran defenders is among them.
Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba, after all, are now in the final six months of their contract at the club and the administration must decide if they are to continue at the club or bid adieu.
While the latter’s story is inching towards an exit after his recent injury record, the former’s case is not as straightforward.
After all, Rudiger has been a mainstay in recent years and parting ways with him will not be simple.
As relayed in a referee report by Defensa Central, Rudiger’s contractual situation has got many European clubs interested in him for the ongoing winter transfer window.
After all, Real Madrid can stand to gain some economic benefit if he leaves before the end of his contract.

Chelsea and PSG are the two big names linked with the star defender, and Saudi Arabia continue to feature as a serious option at his doorstep.
As it stands, the player’s departure in the winter window will only be to Saudi Arabia if it goes through.
Real Madrid are waiting for an offer of around €10 million for Rudiger, a sum they see to be fair for a player on the final months of his contract.
The club thus have a decision to make – to cash in on Rudiger when it’s still possible or to keep him until the end of the season for defensive depth.
Given the nature of Eder Militao’s injury, David Alaba’s fitness issues and Dean Huijsen’s knack for picking up blows, they may well opt against Rudiger’s sale.
Yet, the fact that they are considering offers and that the likes of Al Nassr are willing to meet the price points leaves the door open for any sudden twist.
