Real Madrid refuse to meet demands made by forward’s camp, not ruling out a sale next summer

Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. was at the centre of the team’s recent win over Levante as he scored one goal and provided one assist on the night. He may not be back at his very best, but the performance served as testament to the fact that he is on the right path.

The 25-year-old’s inconsistent form has been a worrying facet of Real Madrid’s dynamics for a while now, and that has had a direct part to play in making his contract renewal negotiations with the club more complicated.

While Real Madrid do indeed value him deeply, Vinicius’ economic demands and form have not quite added up to give the club enough to agree to his terms. In fact, it has come to light that his demands are in fact exorbitant.

A clear stance

As relayed by Mundo Deportivo in a recent report, nothing has changed about Vinicius’ contract renewal at the moment. The exact hurdle complicating matters is the bonus his entourage demand.

Based on whether he stays at the club or pushes for a departure, the player’s agency – Roc Nation Sports – demand a renewal or signing-on bonus and Florentino Perez and Co. are unwilling to shell out any such renewal bonus as it stands.

Real Madrid, for their part, are willing to push the player’s salary higher, but that too does not satisfy Vinicius or his environment as they feel he deserves an even higher wage than what is proposed. Selling the player, thus, is not ruled out.

As confirmed earlier in the week, Vinicius loves the club and wants to stay. So, it appears that the issue seems to be coming from the demands being made by his camp.

If the Brazilian does not come back to accept Real Madrid’s terms, the Merengues will be open to selling him next summer so as to avoid any chance of a departure as a free agent in 2027.

The hope, however, is that he comes around and accepts Real Madrid’s terms before the set deadline – the summer of 2026.
