Real Madrid star Fran García went as far as to bid farewell to members of staff at the club late last week.

This came with the defender having been fully convinced that he was set to depart for Premier League outfit Bournemouth.

Largely struggling for game-time across the season to date, Fran appeared to have found a new home for himself in England, after Bournemouth came forward with a loan offer for his services.

Real Madrid entertained the negotiations, and appeared to have given the green light to the move ahead of the winter transfer deadline.

At the last minute, however, those in a position of power at the Bernabéu pulled the plug on the entire operation.

And as alluded to above, this week, an insight into just how convinced Fran himself was of the transfer going ahead has come to the fore.

As per a report from Blancos insider Sergio Quirante of DAZN:

‘Fran García said goodbye on Friday to people at Valdebebas because he had his move to Bournemouth underway.’
