Rodrygo was one of many Real Madrid who were linked with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu in the summer.
Following the impressive performances of Arda Guler, coupled with the addition of Franco Mastantuono, many felt the Brazilian was going to lose his prominence in the starting eleven.
This led to intense speculation over Rodrygo’s future, with a host of Premier League clubs trying to lure him away from the Bernabeu.
One of the potential suitors were Manchester City, who wanted to sign Rodrygo as part of Pep Guardiola’s huge revamp in the attacking unit this summer.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has offered fresh update on the future of Rodryo, suggesting that Man City were indeed interested in the forward.

However, even though the interest in Rodrygo was discussed in Man City’s internal meetings, the Premier League giants never made an official offer for the player.
Real Madrid, for their part, were not too keen on sanctioning the Brazilian’s exit on a cut-price deal in the summer.
In fact, Romano adds that Los Blancos were looking for a fee of around €120 million for the services of Rodrygo.
The player, for his part, remains keen on staying at Real Madrid. Romano claims that the Brazilian had never actually opened the door for a move to Etihad in the summer.
It appears the attacker trusts Xabi Alonso and is keen on fighting for his place in the first-team, although he has mustered only 83 minutes of action so far.
Rodrygo will hope for things to improve once Real Madrid return from the international break, with Los Blancos slated to resume their campaign on Real Sociedad on September 13.
