Barcelona’s Joan Garcia has been in superb form whenever he has taken to the field this season, and it is safe to call him one of the most reliable presences at the back in Europe.
His performances have not gone unnoticed by Spain manager Luis de la Fuente, who has been largely rigid with his squad as the FIFA World Cup nears.
While he does indeed have three valuable options, there is no doubt that Garcia is superior to some, if not all of them.
One of the current Spanish NT goalkeepers is Alex Remiro, Real Sociedad’s goalkeeper, who put up a stunning show against Barcelona last night.
Garcia, meanwhile, could not quite reproduce his best form and came out second best in the direct head-to-head with his competitor.
Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro opened up to the media about Joan Garcia after the game and explained what he made of the youngster’s potential.
“He’s a very nice boy, young. He is great,” he began.

He then revealed a special connection he shared with Garcia in the past and how he knew of his rise even before the player exploded and earned a move to Barcelona.
“Last year, when he was at Espanyol, the psychologist of the club was my psychologist, with whom I have been working for ten years. She has told me wonders about him.”
“The teammates who know him have also done so,” he added, admitting the goalkeeper is also highly regarded by many players he is in touch with.
Finally, Remiro was asked about potentially competing with Garcia for a spot in the Spanish national team’s dynamics, to which he said,
“Between goalkeepers, we understand each other and we understand to take care of each other.”
