Real Sociedad edged Espanyol 2-1 at Anoeta, with Mikel Oyarzabal delivering two assists and Orri Óskarsson striking the winner on his 22nd birthday. Ander Barrenetxea had earlier opened the scoring with a superb right-footed finish.
According to Diario Vasco, Beñat Barreto graded the team from zero to five for the performance, ratings that count towards the 41-year DV de Oro award, and supporters can also submit their scores.
Barrenetxea’s opener came from Oyarzabal winning the ball and releasing him, leaving Marko Dmitrovic no chance. Roberto levelled before the break with a volley that wrong-footed Álex Remiro, who also held a Moscardo effort, then Óskarsson swept in the decisive finish to the far post from another Oyarzabal pass.
Oyarzabal received a five and was named best on the pitch, his league tallies now at 100 goals and 50 assists. Igor Zubeldia also earned five after an authoritative display, dominant in the air and timing tackles on Javi Hernández and Dolan, while Jon Mikel Aramburu took four for relentless duels and improved carrying.
Sergio Gómez scored four for creating two clear chances, Beñat Turrientes three after sparking the 2-1 move, and Luka Sucic three as he grew into a right-sided role. Remiro took three, blameless for the equaliser, Barrenetxea four for his goal and work rate, Gonçalo Guedes three with chances despite fitness, Take Kubo offered little, Jon Gorrotxategi contributed late headers, and Alex Marchal impressed with sharp service. Coach Pellegrino Matarazzo was marked three, his calls on Zubeldia, Sucic and Oyarzabal at No 10 again paying off.
