Real Sociedad will challenge Brais Méndez’s two-match suspension, lodging an appeal with the Appeals Committee after the Disciplinary Committee’s ruling, according to AS.

The controversy stems from the recent derby against Athletic at San Mamés. In the 82nd minute, Méndez was shown a straight red after a tussle with Aitor Paredes. Referee Cuadra Fernández made the call.

The club condemned the decision on its official channels, describing it as scandalous and arguing there was no aggression to justify such punishment.

The disciplinary judge has rejected Real Sociedad’s arguments. The committee applied the article covering violent conduct away from the play, which carries a two-match suspension.

If the ban is upheld, Méndez would miss the next league games against Elche at Anoeta and Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.
