The Bees went behind on 16 minutes when a free-kick from just inside the Brentford half found a Regents Park Rangers player in the box and they found the back of the net.
It was 2-0 to the home side one minute later from another free-kick, this time a direct effort looped over Leiarna-Rose Taylor-Pullen in goal.
Marta Boabonay continued her impressive start to the season by scoring her 10th goal of the campaign to pull one back after skipper Georgia Wood's excellent cross from the left.
Just before half-time, the home side regained their two-goal lead when a cross from the left caught the Bees keeper out and found the back of the net.
Ryan-Maynard's side rallied after the break. Substitute Remmi Gardner broke down the right flank and delivered a perfect cross into Boabonay, who brought the ball under control before twisting and poking home her second of the day to make it 3-2.
It wasn't to be for the west Londoners, though, as Regents Park Rangers added a fourth to quash any hopes of a comeback.
The Bees have a chance to bounce back next weekend at home to South London Women Reserves at Bedfont Sports Club (3pm kick-off GMT).
