Régis Le Bris handed mixed injury news as Sunderland face RC Lens, with Meunier starting | OneFootball

Thomas Meunier makes his first Sunderland appearance as the Black Cats meet RC Lens this afternoon.

According to Sunderland Echo, Meunier starts alongside fellow World Cup returnee Granit Xhaka, with Chemsdine Talbi among the substitutes.

Nordi Mukiele is not in the squad after being substituted early with a knock in the final game of last week’s US tour. Simon Adingra is also absent after suffering an injury in that game.

A positive for Régis Le Bris is a return to the starting XI after a minor knock kept the player out of the win over Wrexham. Le Bris is expected to make changes in the second half to protect returning World Cup players, with focus turning to the Premier League season in a fortnight.

Omar Alderete does not feature after returning from his post World Cup break earlier this week. He is on a different programme and is not yet ready to play.
