Sunderland return to Premier League duty against Nottingham Forest at the Stadium of Light on Friday night, with Régis Le Bris weighing up key calls.
According to Sunderland Echo, the head coach is set to pick from the same group that travelled to Aston Villa last Sunday, though he has strong bench options as he seeks a top-half push and potential European place.
In goal, Robin Roefs has enjoyed a superb campaign and is expected to have a major part to play.
Nordi Mukiele has been restored at right back in recent weeks and, with Le Bris viewing him as central to the attacking threat at home, he seems certain to continue.
After a cautious approach at Villa Park, Dan Ballard now has minutes and a full week’s training behind him, so it would be a major surprise if he did not return to the starting XI for this crucial game.
Omar Alderete has been outstanding and integral in and out of possession. He was withdrawn in the second half last week due to illness, with five or six players affected, but he should be fit to start.
