Recent reports from Mundo Deportivo reveal that Barcelona’s relationship with UEFA has noticeably improved.
It is to be noted that the connection between the club and Europe’s governing body has been tense for years, mainly due to Financial Fair Play investigations and disagreements over the European Super League.
Despite these past issues, however, Barcelona now views UEFA more positively, seeing room for cooperation and understanding.
The outlet mentions that UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has praised Joan Laporta’s efforts to act as a bridge between the Super League and UEFA.
Barcelona, in turn, has gained a clearer understanding of how its member-based ownership works.
Unlike publicly traded sports companies, Barça cannot raise capital easily, which initially complicated UEFA’s evaluation of their finances.
A €60 million fine was reduced to €15 million after discussions, provided the club follows UEFA’s financial rules over the next two years.

Barcelona have also received approval from UEFA to host their first home Champions League game on matchday two, giving the club extra time to prepare the Spotify Camp Nou or the Estadi Olímpic.
UEFA has even shown willingness to allow Barça to return to Camp Nou during the group stage if conditions are met, despite standard rules preventing such changes.
The club has been actively involved in conversations to enhance the Champions League format.
The outlet mentions that a key change is the guaranteed ‘home advantage’ until the semi-finals for the top two teams. This suggestion came directly from discussions between Laporta and Ceferin.
Adding to the positive signs, Ceferin is expected to attend Barcelona’s upcoming match against PSG, joining Laporta and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi in the presidential box.
His presence highlights UEFA’s growing willingness to maintain dialogue with the club, reflecting a new era of mutual respect and cooperation between Barcelona and European football’s governing body.
