There are reports that Manchester City are the latest club to set their sights on Atalanta midfielder Ederson, seeing him as the first alternative to Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson.

Ederson is only under contract in Bergamo until June 2027, making him a particularly appetising prospect on the transfer market next summer.

He has already been heavily linked with Liverpool, Barcelona, Juventus, Inter, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Now Sky Sports Switzerland claim that Manchester City put the Brazil international on their list too, albeit as an alternative to their primary target.

That would be Anderson, who is currently impressing at Nottingham Forest, to the degree that the asking price for him is pushing £100m.

Atalanta had been looking for €60m to sell Ederson, but that may well drop this summer if there is no agreement over a new contract.

His agent has already been giving interviews where he drops hints about an exit and openly suggested Barcelona should bid for the 26-year-old.

He was purchased from Salernitana in January 2022 for €22.9m, having arrived from Corinthians just six months earlier at a cost of €6.5m, so his transfer value soared exponentially.
