Report Gimenez could join FC Porto on loan with €20m option, no Milan guarantee | OneFootball

A significant shift is reported in Portugal, suggesting Milan would loan Santiago Gimenez to FC Porto with an option to buy for €20m, not an obligation.

The negotiations had stalled for the Mexico international, who was a very big investment when the Rossoneri paid €30.2m plus add-ons to get him from Feyenoord in February 2025.

However, with seven goals and six assists in 37 competitive appearances, he spent most of last term injured following ankle surgery and is not in new coach Ruben Amorim’s plans.

Gimenez sale can be postponed

Milan were determined to sell Gimenez this summer, and is eager for Porto because of the presence of Italian tactician Francesco Farioli.

The sticking point had been the formula, as confirmed by MilanNews.it today, but A Bola and O Jogo now note there has been a significant development.

They claim the Rossoneri are finally open to making this a loan with option to buy for €20m, not including an obligation as part of the deal.

Lazio had also shown an interest, but Gennaro Gattuso confessed the centre-forward had absolutely no enthusiasm for the idea of coming to the Stadio Olimpico.

Gimenez has already agreed personal terms with Porto and this is his favoured destination.
