Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio is reportedly on the verge of joining Premier League side Bournemouth on loan with an option to buy. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian star is expected to undergo his medicals at the Vitality Stadium later today.

Once considered among the best goalkeepers in Serie A, Di Gregorio gradually lost his starting berth at Juventus last season. Several underwhelming performances saw Luciano Spalletti bench the former Monza man in favor of Mattia Perin, who’s also one step away from leaving the Turin giants.

Indeed, Perin will soon sign for Serie B outfit Palermo. Meanwhile, Juventus have signed Guglielmo Vicario on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, with the 29-year-old expected to start the new season as Spalletti’s first choice between the sticks. Yet, the Bianconeri may need to sign a new shot-stopper now that Di Gregorio is set to leave for Bournemouth.

Our take on Juventus, Bournemouth & Di Gregorio

Bournemouth’s decision to bring Di Gregorio to the Premier League is a bit surprising, considering Djordje Petrovic had a decent season last term. Therefore, he’s likely to be a backup for the Serbian keeper, which could diminish his chances of completing a permanent move to Boscombe next summer.

Marco Rose’s men will have an option to purchase the Juventus outcast for €14 million. As for the record-time Serie A champions, they could soon open talks with Leeds United over Lucas Perri’s transfer to the Allianz Stadium. The Brazilian has fallen out of favor at Elland Road and could be an affordable target for the Italian side.
