Retro kit flies off shelves as Villarreal set Bilbao date, FERNANDO ROIG hosts Real Sociedad | OneFootball

Villarreal’s retro shirt has been a hit since sales opened on Thursday night, with brisk online orders and strong matchday demand at Estadio de la Cerámica. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, many supporters snapped up the special edition before yesterday’s game.

The LaLiga Retro Matchday falls on matchday 31, when Villarreal visit Athletic Club at San Mamés on Sunday 12 April at 21:00. The team will wear the commemorative shirt in Bilbao, with matching retro shorts and socks.

President Fernando Roig Alfonso, who is recovering from an operation, and chief executive Fernando Roig Negueroles hosted Real Sociedad’s travelling directors at La Cerámica. The txuri-urdin delegation was led by vice-president Mikel Ubarretxena. Relations between the clubs are excellent.

Villarreal are supporting Conquistando Escalones through the Kilómetros por la cura initiative, a charity drive that turns sporting activity into scientific research funding. The club will donate one euro for each kilometre their players cover across the 10 LaLiga games remaining.

Former groguet Yeremy Pino visited La Cerámica yesterday. After featuring for his club Crystal Palace in the Conference League and with no Premier League this weekend, he was at the stadium.

Food collection points in the fan zone and at APV headquarters are supporting the Sahrawi people. Fans can donate non-perishable food, medical supplies, hygiene products and school materials.

Supporters’ club La Rajola Grogueta de l’Alcora were honoured before kick-off. Its members stepped onto the pitch to be photographed with Villarreal’s starting XI.
