RFEF committee rejects Castellón appeal, Mellot banned for Ceuta match | OneFootball

El Periódico Mediterráneo reports that the RFEF Disciplinary Committee has dismissed CD Castellón’s appeal against Jeremy Mellot’s red card.

Mellot was sent off late on at Butarque in Monday’s 0-2 win over Leganés. His challenge on Unax del Cura was punished with a straight red. The incident also brought a penalty for the hosts, but Matthys saved Álex Millán’s kick.

Castellón sought to have the dismissal overturned to avoid a suspension. The committee upheld the referee’s decision and ruled the incident fell under article 130.1 of the RFEF Disciplinary Code, covering violent conduct arising from play.

A resolution published on Wednesday imposes a one-match suspension on Mellot, together with the accessory fine set out in article 52 of the code.

He will therefore miss Sunday’s meeting with Ceuta at SkyFi Castalia, set for 18.30.
