Richarlison has posted a cryptic message as he closes in on a Tottenham exit, with a return to Everton on the cards after a difficult spell under Roberto De Zerbi.

According to Goal.com, an agreement is in place for the 29-year-old to rejoin Everton, with Iliman Ndiaye expected to head to Spurs. Both transfers are subject to medicals and finalised personal terms, with optimism they will go through.

The Brazilian’s post arrived 24 hours after Spurs’ 2-0 defeat at Newcastle. He shared a photo from last season with a thinking emoji, then wrote that he had been cast as the villain in many badly told stories.

Among roughly 40,000 likes was a nod from his Tottenham team-mate Xavi Simons.

De Zerbi has admitted squad harmony has been hit by players seeking exits, and he omitted Richarlison from the trip to St James’ Park. The head coach said the forward had repeatedly told him he wanted to leave, adding that Danso and Pape Sarr expressed similar wishes, with Sarr also carrying a small injury.

He joined Spurs in 2022 and leaves with 32 goals and 15 assists in all competitions after a £60m move four years ago. He helped the club win the Europa League, while his stint was marked by inconsistency and a late rift with the hierarchy.
