Richarlison has addressed supporters after his proposed move to Vasco collapsed, saying talks came very close before breaking down. The player said in a social media video that he had prioritised Vasco and thanked fans for their messages.

Negotiations began as a loan until December 2026, however Tottenham had already reached their loan limit, so a temporary deal was not possible.

Vasco then pursued a permanent transfer and sought agreement on a three-and-a-half-year contract, but no deal was reached with the forward. The club later shelved the idea of signing him outright after his camp rejected a longer commitment.

Richarlison, who regards Vasco as his boyhood club, had been ready to join only until December and still hopes to appear at São Januário soon. Playing for Vasco remains a family dream he aims to fulfil one day.

He and his family had been enthused by the prospect of living in Brazil until the end of this year, though the intention was to return abroad after the season.

The transfer window closes on Friday. Vasco have already made six signings, bringing in centre-back Gabriel Pereira, left-back Paulinho, midfielder Sosa, playmaker Lescano and forwards Colidio and Bruno Duarte.
