Rob Edwards says Kieran Trippier’s arrival underlines Wolves’ stature and marks an ideal start to their Molineux rebuild. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the former England international has joined as the first signing on a two-year contract.

Trippier has accepted a move to the Championship to aid a promotion push, which Edwards feels confirms the club remain a major draw despite relegation. The 35-year-old follows Andre’s new deal, and Wolves are trying to persuade Raul Jimenez to return.

Edwards was struck by Trippier’s determination to come to Molineux and his focus on driving standards in the dressing room. He said the player had other options, so securing him represents a coup and builds on the momentum created by Andre’s commitment. The head coach views it as good a start as they could have hoped for.

Edwards believes the free agent, recently departed from Newcastle, will add experience and leadership to a squad that finished bottom of the Premier League. Trippier previously played for Burnley, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid, spending four years on Tyneside.

Reflecting on last season, Edwards pointed to a lack of know-how, especially in English football, rather than poor attitudes. He wants resilient, strong characters in abundance next year and considers Trippier to fit that need, with quality, experience and hunger.
