A fresh insight into the future of Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has come to the fore late on Friday.

And the news points towards what would mark an altogether surprising exit as potentially being on the cards for the Pole.

As per a report from Catalunya Ràdio, the powers that be at Barcelona have already begun planning the club’s squad for next season.

‘And one of the names that has appeared on a hypothetical casualty list is that of Robert Lewandowski.’

Though Lewandowski, for his part, remains happy in Barca’s colours, his hefty wages have emerged as an increasing source of concern for the board at the Camp Nou.

After earning €13 million this season, the frontman’s salary is set to rise yet further to €16 million in 2024/25.

With his production down in comparison to what was a stellar first campaign in Spain, and Lewandowski set to turn 36 in the summer, it is in turn suggested that Deco and his team of directors could seek out the sale of the former Bayern Munich man.

Should as much ultimately come to fruition, ‘Lewa’ is not understood to be keen on taking advantage of the widespread interest in his services from the Saudi Pro League.

Instead, he would lean more towards seeing out the twilight years of his career in Major League Soccer.

It is reiterated, though, that as things stand, the Polish international ‘has no interest in leaving Barcelona’.
