Robert Moreno’s spell at FK Sochi ended in September 2025. According to Diario Vasco, former Sochi chief executive Andrei Orlov has accused the ex-Spain manager of consulting ChatGPT on line-ups and of keeping players awake for more than 28 hours.

Orlov also claimed Moreno woke the squad in the small hours and sought AI advice on substitutions and signings, a process that led to the arrival of Kazakh forward Artur Shushenachev, which did not pay off.

Moreno rose as Luis Enrique’s assistant at Barça B, Roma and Celta, then on the Barcelona first-team staff before joining Spain in 2018. He took charge of the national side for 10 matches when Luis Enrique stepped aside for personal reasons.

On returning, Luis Enrique cut ties, describing him as disloyal and stating he did not want anyone with those traits on his staff. Moreno then managed Monaco in 2019 for 13 games before being sacked, and later Granada for 27 league fixtures before dismissal, with the club eventually relegated.

After two years out, he took the Sochi job in December 2023. Across a little over two years he oversaw relegation from Russia’s top flight, then promotion back.
