Roberto di Zerbe watched on as Marseille won this dramatic Champions League match against Newcastle United.
Eddie Howe’s side took a sixth minute lead through Harvey Barnes.
United then battled away and whilst Marseille had chances, so did Newcastle on the counter.
A game finely balanced at the break though, as Newcastle United held that single goal lead.
Marseille then turned it around in the opening five minutes of the second half.
Within seconds of the restart, Nick Pope totally misjudging it when he attempted to sweep behind his defence, Aubameyang always getting there first and then a class finish from a tight angle out on the right.
The Marseille fans had barely settled down again when the killer blow was delivered to Newcastle in this match.
It was Aubamayang again, a very sharp finish, this time Livramento should have done better to try and stop the cross and then Schar could have been tighter on the striker, though no denying it was a high class goal.
Roberto di Zerbi explaining after the match what he told his players, how they could find the ‘solution’ to win this game.
Roberto De Zerbi speaking to official UEFA media after Marseille 2 Newcastle 1:
“I am very pleased with the performance, the quality of our play, the result as well.
“It was a very good day for us and a very important one.
“We have tough games on the horizon and we want to compete in two competitions.
“Even in the first half, we created three, four, five clear-cut chances to score, but we didn’t convert them.
“We were unlucky, making a couple of mistakes, but I was happy with our performance in the first half.
“I told my players to keep going, to keep playing, because if we did, we would be able to find the solution to win the game.”
